Florencia Lozano (born December 16, 1969) is an actress from the United States. She portrayed Téa Delgado on the daytime drama One Life to Live. Lozano has guest-starred in several primetime television shows, as well as films.
Florencia Lozano was born in Princeton, New Jersey, to Eduardo, an architect, and Elizabeth, an Argentine Spanish teacher. She grew raised in Newton Center, Massachusetts, and transferred out of Cornell University to acquire her Bachelor of Arts from Brown University before relocating to New York City to pursue her Master of Fine Arts at New York University’s Graduate Acting Program at the Tisch School of the Arts. Among Lozano’s regional theatre credits are Yerma, Antigone, Hamlet, and Caucasian Chalk Circle.
Lozano was cast as attorney Téa Delgado on the daytime drama One Life to Live in December 1996, and the show premiered on January 27, 1997. The character became one of the most successful soap opera inventions, earning Lozano a devoted fan base.
Lozano was still receiving fan mail for her portrayal of the role nearly two years after her departure from the series in 2002. “I really appreciate all the love pouring at me,” she remarked. “The response to Téa continues to astound me.” “I left because I wanted to try new things,” she explained further. Aside from the soap, I’d like to do more theatre, film, and television work. It’s difficult to do anything else when you’re working on a soap.

Lozano starred in an Off Broadway production called Lick in June 1999, and in Love’s Labor Lost, a Shakespearean drama staged out of Berkeley in Orinda, CA, from August to September 2000. In addition to her fame among soap opera viewers, Lozano was named one of the “Daytime’s Hardest Working Women” by About.com and one of the “Most Beautiful Women” in soap opera by the magazine Soap Opera Update.
Lozano is a trained dancer whose abilities include ballet, jazz, modern, and flamenco.
In 1997, she began a romantic relationship with Christopher Welch, who later appeared in the 2002 Broadway version of The Crucible.
While Lozano and Welch were occupied with New York theatre pieces, Lozano intended to stay on the East Coast. “I travelled to California and realized that while I could exercise there, I could never live there,” she explained. “There’s something about New York that makes it feel like home. And there’s something about theatre that feels incredibly rewarding. It’s really what I enjoy doing.”
